Triglycerides are basically little pieces of fat floating in your blood. You can imagine that after awhile they could build up in the arteries and veins and blood vessels and cause problems. That is why you are finding the information under heart disease and stroke. They can build up in the heart arteries and cause a blockage leading to a heart attack. Or they can build up in the arteries leading to the brain and cause a stroke.
They are frequently blamed on bad diet, obesity and lack of exercise.
They are also part of what is commonly called "metabolic syndrome". You might find more information if you search for diabetes.
