Heart Disease: decline in incidence?

decline in incidence?i am asked for coursework to show which gender between 1996 and 2005 showed the biggest decline in "incidence" of ischaemic heart disease in Ireland, now actual incidences for males were reduced because they started with a higher number of fatalities. But females had percentage wise a greater reduction in fatalites so does incidence mean the percentage drop of the actual number of incidences

Answer by SDD
Incidence is how often something occurs. In this case it appears that would be comparing the percentage change among males to the percentage change among females.
