How Come Overeating and Obesity Is Not A Moral Priority For Christians?

How Come Overeating and Obesity Is Not A Moral Priority For Christians? The US Health Department Obesity Studies have done their America's Fattest States list for 2007and Mississippi came in 1st, beating out Alabama. Ironically, the top ten fattest states are mostly bible belt states.

Gluttony (overeating) is the chief cause of obesity in America. It kills MILLIONS of people a year from heart disease, diabetes, stroke, cancer, high blood pressure all as a result of overeating, resulting in orphaned children, widows, rising cost of health care. Not only are more Americans becoming fat gluttons but they are raising fat gluttonous children. Childhood obesity is an epidemic in our country.

Isn't gluttony and overeating condemned in the bible- Prov 23:21, Ecces 10:18, Rom 13:13, Phil 3:19 and 1 Pet 4:3.- Go look it up yourself.

Where is the moral outrage by Christians for this? It seems to be far more of a NATIONAL crisis and danger to families than Ellen Degenerous getting hitched to another woman.

What do you think?
Isn't it also CURIOUS that a fat glutton can be a pastor of a church, but not a gay person?

Isn't this a double standard? Doesn't it make it seem like Christians are relativists? They pick and choose which of their many sins they want to condemn based MAINLY on "personal predjudice"?

Edit: you said that, now i look stupid.

Second edit: They are also depriving those people who are starving of food.

I may be wrong, but, I believe America is slowly coming around to the problems of obesity.

there is a TON of programming on TV dedicated to reducing obesity (lots of reality TV).

Of course, we have a longggggg way to go, but it is a start.

Well, you are right about over - eating being a sin. It is certainly a sin as you have listed scriptures concluding this point. As far as having a gay pastor or not, one would have to look at two factors. As far as the fat pastor, is he trying to fight his gluttony? If he is, I would say 'keep him as your pastor.' I would also say the same thing for the gay pastor. If he is fighting his homosexuality, let him stay as pastor. Key phrase, "if he is fighting it." If the pastor is ignoring (in both cases) are just accepting their moral problems as a normality, then there is a serious problem that must be dealt with quickly.

They only go against what they personally think is wrong, or what thier pastor says is wrong. Look at the persecution rates for instances..............Pagans, Witches, Homosexuals, Jews, Islamist, ect.
