Chances of me getting into a decent college?I am almost 21. I couldn't do anything after high school due to my heart failing and me having a major surgery when I was nineteen to replace a part of my heart.
I was born with a terminal illness, that got worsened by Kawasaki Disease when I was a kid. In high school I missed a lot of school due to being sick a lot (I grew up getting sick a lot) and the doctors always expected me to die before teenagedom and never make it to be an adult. I survived went to a good high school, tried my best.
Yearly GPA:
Freshman - 9
- Semester 1: 3.14
- Semester 2: 3.86
Sophomore - 10
- Semester 1: 3.17
- Semester 2: 3.00
Junior - 11
- Semester 1: 2.20
- Semester 2: 1.20
Summer School - 11/12
- Retook a class I got a D in and ended up with an A
Senior - 12
- Semester 1: 2.43
- Semester 2: 2.86
In my junior year I was rushed to the hospital a lot, due to bad chest pains. for the first semester of my senior year, my grandfather passed away so I was gone for about three months in another state.
I got straight As in Algebra, and English. I got 3/4 semesters of French with an A. I even managed to get a B in an AP class.
I don't think I can get in, anything, but what are my chances in your opinion?

start off at a junior college to get your overall GPA up, and when you start looking at a university to attend after the first 2 years, make sure that in your essay you explain your situation. you sound very determined to succeed, so if you can get that message across in your essay, which you should be able to with such good english grade, you'll have a pretty good shot at some good schools. if you want to go to Harvard, you'll have to work your tail off before even being considered, but if you're looking at a good public college (binghamton university, for example) you'll have a shot. good luck.

define decent college
what is your race, this does factor in to
Yes, you can get into a college
Yes, you will get into a "decent" college if you write about your experience but DO NOT make it a sob story, make it a learning experience and how having that experience has taught you things, and you can bring this new found knowledge to the school etc.
When it comes down to it many people go through difficulties, while myself and others are empathetic towards you situation, it is still la competetion to go to "decent" colleges
Im not going to tell you what you want to hear and say Yes 100% you will, but I will tell you if you do good on your SAT/ACT and write a kick a$ $ essay you can and most likely will get into a decent college

I think you have a great chance at getting into some very good schools!
Perhaps not ivy leagues or anything, but some really good schools regardless.
I am going to University of Vermont next fall for writing, the program is GREAT there! I'm pretty sure you can get into a cool school like that.
Check out locales you like, then look for schools in the area. Then look up the average incoming-freshman GPA to see if you have a good shot.
For me, UVM was it because i love the outdoors, mountains, snowboarding, etc.
You have to find a school you love and can do well at, in a place you love.
Also you didnt mention SATs... Most schools require you to submit these scores. Anything over 1600 should get you into a decent school.
You sound like such a determined person with a lot to offer any school! Write an essay that will make you stand out and shine. You need to remember that getting into a good school is not JUST about good grades. They look for unique individuals, who are driven and can offer a lot to their university (which it sounds like you can).
You can do this, good luck!!!
:D
