Anyone who has heart attack /disease - please help - give opinion!?I am middle-age guy with normal cholesterol, no diabetes and normal chemistries. I had some blocked arteries for years now & yet I managed with really no chest pains or suffering. Last year - a car ran me over and I had much loss of blood and went into cardiac shock from the impact - & - had a MASSIVE heart attack which they said destroyed large areas of my heart muscle.
since the accident, I breathe with gasping if it's cold outside, or if I get anxiety. these symptoms are solely from the heart attack. I refuse to do bypass surgery - they admit it will only stay clear for some years and then later re-clog. I was told that there is no therapy, medicine or anything which will repair my severely DAMAGED heart muscle.- which give me symptoms. My ejection fraction is better than 50%. Prior to attack I had NO chest pains, I walked freely, climbed stairs. etc.etc. I also was told that my body created excellent COLLATERAL vessels to feed my heart,
What hopes do I have?

Hello Danny,
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but fortunatly there is much you can do to improve your condition simply through diet, exercise, and supplements.
I agree with the web sight from Nanas post. I have read this before and researched it, and I believe the supplement regiman described in the web sight to be of significant value. Do keep an eye on your cholesterol if you adopt this regiman, as research indicates that Lysine has been shown to increase cholesterol levels in some individuals.
In addition to the vitamin C, Lysine, and proline regiman, I would highly recommend that you consider the program for reversing heart disease as prescribed by Dr. Dean Ornish. Of course this will not bring back the heart muscle that was damaged during your heart attack, but it can significantly improve your cardio vascular health. His plan is that you consume a no cholesterol vegeatrian very low fat diet, get regular daily exercise, and control the stress issues in your life. I believe the program prescribed is the most important change you need to make in your life if you want to avoid invasive procedures. You can find info. on the web, or check your local book store as he has written several books on the subject. I have seen the difference that this diet and lifestyle changes have made in the lives of those with heart disease, and have heard nothing but good things from those that have stuck to the Dr. Ornish plan. Many of those suffering with symptoms of angina found that by following the plan that there symptoms were gone in short order or at the very least greatly diminished. Most people do not have the will power to make such dynamic changes in there lives, even though there lives are at stake. I hope that you will consider it, as this lifestyle change could very well help you to avoid and invasive procedure. I am not a fan of invasisve procedures myself, but do consider your physicians advice. You may want to consult with a different physician, one who is more open minded to alternative ways of improving ones heart health. Most importantly, always remember that YOU are empowered to improve your health by making diet and lifestyle changes, and that these changes are frequently more effective than regimans proposed by most doctors. If you would like further info. or insight please feel free to email me. Best of luck to you.
