Is milk an addictive substance?

Is milk an addictive substance?Per the wiki, milk has casein which breaks down into casomorphin - which in turn exhibits the "opioid effect" when consumed. Further I've read significant speculation that these peptides have relations with certain medical conditions including diabetes, heart disease, acne vulgaris, and symptoms of autism and schizophrenia.

Now to my question, how many people do you know that can give up (cold turkey) all forms of cheese, butter, milk, creams, yogurt, and other product that includes some form of dairy - even most "dark" chocolates ironically, minus the organic brands. I'm going to safety assume that most Americans would _significantly_ struggle with such dietary restrictions.

Further, the dairy section is not without major marketing - and especially targeting children with the use of anthropomorphized cow adverts on tv and print. Emulsified cheese (not to mention bacon) have become so ingrained in the minds of people that it's practically become a language meme, and probably one of the most common used words in recent dialect. Females exhibiting PMS symptoms are often told to eat ice cream to "feel better" to which many do - and in large quantities.

And I think that's a good time to stop postulating, please reciprocate viewpoints.

Interesting point. We ARE the only species that continues to drink milk after we are weaned.

I believe milk is a very addicting substance after recently reading up on it. There seems to be a lot of cases where the subject who significantly cut down on milk or ceased drinking it completely experienced noticeable withdrawal symptoms. Most people I know would not be able to give up dairy products without a lot of struggle, seeing that it is a big part of people's diets.

They do seem to be targeting children, which would make sense because, other than cheese, the consumption of dairy products in the US hasn't seen a significant increase and children are easy targets. Interesting topic:)
