Heart palpitations and other symptoms when exercising.?I had a roller derby bout (game) last night and after the warm-ups and when the game started I had weird symptoms.
Heart palpitations and it was a lot and seemed to happen for a good min.
Dizziness
Everything got quieter
Everything started to go grey.
Then going around the corner I just fell out of nowhere and a minute later I was fine. But this happens when I'm at practice too minus the graying of things. It also happens when I stand up or bend over.
I've always seemed to have this problem but it's getting worse, meaning it's more frequently and lasts longer. The palpitations would happen maybe once a month one night for about 5 seconds. Now it's more than once a week for a good minute.
Of all the years I have been doing this and exercising this is the first time this has been a problem. I did everything right including eating before hand and drinking plenty of water.
I am 23 years old and female with no health problems other than having Addison's disease. I'm afraid of going to the doctor and spending the time and money and nothing ever showing up and being called nuts!
Would it be worth going to the doctor?
Should I wait it out?
Could it have to do with Addison's?

Im only 20 and the same thing happened to me only i was walking up stairs in an enclosed flat in englandwhen it first happened to me. It happens every time i walk to fast stand up too quick etc. It could be a panic attack. I suffer from them a few times a week. they dont know what the cause of mines is yet, but i get palpitations, shortness of breath, dizziness, blurred vision and migraines. Even went to hospital as my heart was beating so fast and was so scared. its worth seeing the doc over as it could be a heart problem or even a mind problem from an underlying issue. They will probably do and ECG harmless recorder for your heart for a few minutes to see how your heart beats to rule out heart problems. Im on propranolol tablets to help calm me down and keep my heart at a steady beat, harmless to be honest. A doctor wont call you crazy though. Its quite common nowadays from stressful situations etc. I hope all goes well for you. Best of luck

Yes it is definitely worth going to the doc. They need to put you on an event cardiac monitor to see one of these monthly is what I suspect you may be experiencing. I think that you are having episodes of an abnormal heart beat called supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), essentially you heart rate goes really fast for a bit and then slows down.
This *COULD* be distantly related to your Addison's however not directly. There are a few other things that can case the SVT which is what it sounds like you are having. You could have a heart valve defect that over time could become a problem.
The dizziness is because the blood moves too fast through your lung and its not as well oxygenated as it could be (same goes for the quieter/greyer)
Best to get a rundown by a cardiologist.
Also for the second poster...propranolol is a cardiac drug, it blocks a receptor in your heart to help with the fast heart beat.

Definitely see the doctor. You have all the reason in the world and it might save your life. If it were me, I would lay off the roller derby until I was checked out.
