Heart Disease: New study:Being UNDERweight increases risks of morbidity and mortality compared to normal & over-weight???

New study:Being UNDERweight increases risks of morbidity and mortality compared to normal & over-weight???The difference between overweight/mild-obesity & normal weight were nearly nothing.

"Mortality rates from heart disease, pneumonia and cancer for normal-weight and overweight individuals weren't significantly different, the researchers found. But underweight men and women were nearly four times as likely to die from any cause compared with as overweight individuals, and nearly 18 times more likely to die from cancer. Heart disease mortality in the underweight group was almost four times greater than among normal-weight individuals."

Are you going to stop counting calories?

:D
Duh, being normal weight or average weight for your height is the best place to be.

But the unrealistic & unhealthy image perpetrated on our youth by mass-marketers & Hollywood is dangerous... being super skinny, so that you can see your shoulder, collar bones & ribs is not only unrealistic for most people in the world... it is extremely unhealthy!
Is it worth the price to look like a model who is most likely airbrushed before being published?

It's even more dangerous than keeping on a few extra pounds.... unlike what Meme Roth would insist, that Jordin Sparks is obese & unhealthy.

So does this mean that normal weight people are healthier? Cause guess what?! That has always been the case!

I have to count my calories just to have a BMI of 21, in the normal range with me being slim, not skinny. I would have to starve myself and live on a treadmill to ever be underweight, with a BMI of 17. I am not surprised by the results from the study. I believe in moderation in most things in life, especially food. I don't think it's healthy to get fat but it's also not healthy to be skinny and starve yourself. I still envy the people that can eat what they want and never gain weight. Maybe they have a higher risk of heart disease, but at least they can have a dessert after every meal.

Edit: I read your added notes and I completely agree. The images given by models and actresses are very unhealthy for young, impressionable girls. Not only are skeletal women unhealthy, they're also unattractive.
