Since Doctors say the lap band is safe and nonevasive, why are they not given away free to Retirees?


Since Doctors say the lap band is safe and nonevasive, why are they not given away free to Retirees?Obesity , heart disease, degenerative arthritis,and Diabetes, are the main things most elders and retirees are being treated for with our Medicare money. Why wouldn't that be covered so the system could save trillions with one simple surgery? Obesity is our nations downfall and largest health threat.

Lap band surgery is an external form of control. Life involves controlling yourself and not depending on the establishment to provide for all your wants.

Obesity starts young.....maybe we should start issuing them in Kindergarten.

Not true. Senriors are only able to get any bariatric procedure from a center with a high success rate with seniors - as a big part of any surgeries success is the aftercare. Lapband surgery is covered.

How about we have them practice a little self control and put down the fork instead. Obesity is a preventable condition most of the time. Tax payers shouldn't have pay for people's poor lifestyle choices.
